Cormorants at Puttenahalli Puttakere
Why Lakeika?
I have two roles – a Lake conservationist and writer, Lekhika in Hindi. Between these two passions, writing always takes the backseat because the lake is a demanding infant who needs prompt, immediate attention. As if to compensate, this website gives more information about my books and writing. I hope to restore the balance some day.

August 2023
Tamil Nadu State Council for Higher Education has prescribed my translation of Mahakavi Bharati’s “KaaNi nilam veNdum” in the new syllabus for 2023 in General English. “A Patch of Land” appears in Selected Poems of Subramania Bharati (Hachette India, 2012). The English translation of a Tamil poem is being taught in Tamil Nadu! I can’t ask for more though it would have been nice if the Academic Council had informed me earlier rather than me finding this out by chance!
I’m equally delighted to read this review posted on 25/08/2023.
About
I am a writer, translator and lake conservationist based in Bengaluru, India. I’m choosy about what I translate but between writing and taking care of Puttenahalli Lake in my neighbourhood, I cannot decide which I like more. I believe that opportunities are meant to be grabbed and there’s great value in perseverance.
